Quantum Computation and Simulation

Quantum Simulation

2D-Materials are a unique platform to study many-body quantum effects, such as the formation of excitonic Bose-Einstein-Condensates. Using nanostructuring techniques these pathways can be designed to mimic a wide range of Hamiltonians and can thus serve as a quantum simulator.
his naturally leads to the question of the link between wave physics and quantum computation.

We aim to investigate the relation of the two fields by developing demonstration experiments for quantum algorithms and creating quantum algorithms to simulation wave propagation in optical systems.

Research topics include

  • development of simple open-source demonstration experiments with quantum light
  • investigation of algorithms to simulate wave-propagation phenomena in quantum computers
  • creation of experiments that highlight the connection of quantum algorithms and well-known physical systems
